FreeCampMaps (freecampmaps.com) is published by Lucky Future LLC ("we," "us"), 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801. By using the site you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

What this site is

FreeCampMaps is a free reference site about officially designated free camping and motorhome stopovers in Europe and the United States: where you may legally stop for the night without paying, what the local rules are, and what changes when you cross a border. We publish information. We do not sell pitches, take bookings, broker permits, or act as an agent for any commune, municipality, landowner or agency.

The important part: rules change, and you are responsible

Read this section even if you skip the rest.

Stopover rules, stay limits, closures and overnight parking policies change constantly, and they change without telling us. A commune withdraws its aire. A town fits a height barrier. A region passes a byelaw on motorhomes. A national park closes an area for the season. A US ranger district changes its dispersed camping limit. We cite an official source and a last-verified date on every rules page, and on every place we list we record the body that designates it, so you can see exactly where a fact came from and how old it is.

The sign on the ground and the local authority's own current guidance always win. Our page is a starting point for your research, not a permit and not legal advice. Before you rely on anything here, check the source we cite and look for signs at the place itself. If our page and a posted sign disagree, the sign is right.

Where we do not have a rule verified, we say so and leave it blank rather than guess. A blank means we have not confirmed it, not that anything is allowed.

You are responsible for where you stop and what happens there. Camping, driving unfamiliar roads and living out of a vehicle carry real risk, including risk of injury, property damage, fines, being moved on, vehicle seizure in the countries that allow it, and death. You accept that risk.

Wild camping

Where wild camping appears on this site, it appears as rules: what the law or access code says, where it applies, and what conditions attach. We do not publish coordinates for it, and nothing here should be read as an invitation to camp outside a designated place. The legality of doing so varies by country, by region and sometimes by individual protected area, and the consequences of getting it wrong fall on you.

We link to sites we do not control, including official pages in languages we have translated from. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Where we describe what a foreign-language source says, the original text is the authority and our summary is not a translation of legal effect.

Acceptable use

Use the site for your own trip planning. Do not scrape it wholesale, republish substantial portions of it as your own, or use it to build a competing dataset. Do not try to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site.

Our content, and the data underneath it

The text, tables and design on this site are owned by Lucky Future LLC. Quote us with attribution and a link. Do not copy pages wholesale.

The place records are a different thing and are not ours to lock up. They come from open data sources, each under its own licence, and each record on this site names its source and that licence. Your rights in that underlying data come from those licences, not from us. The underlying facts we report, such as what a rule says, belong to nobody and you are free to go verify them at the source, which is exactly what we want you to do.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the information here is complete, current, or correct.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Lucky Future LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of your use of the site or reliance on anything published here, including fines, penalty notices, towing or removal, property damage, injury, or death. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Nothing in these terms removes a right you have under consumer law that cannot be removed by agreement. Readers in the UK, the EU, Australia and elsewhere have such rights, and this section is read subject to them.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.
