Seasonal. The mairie states the aire is open March 15 to November 15, so it is shut for the winter. The mairie describes 26 places in total (12 marked plus 14 open), while the OSM record gives a capacity of 12. The site is at the eastern entrance to the town and has picnic tables.

03 · The write-up
What it is like to arrive here.
A free municipal aire de services where the electricity is also free, published by the mairie itself. That combination is rare enough to be the headline.
The commune of Elven runs this aire and states on its own site that le stationnement est gratuit, the parking is free, with water and electric hook-up included at no charge. That is the mairie’s own page, so it is the first place a change would appear.
What is actually here
Water, electric hook-up, waste dumping, wastewater emptying, toilets and picnic tables. The mairie lists all of it without a charge. The OSM record agrees on the water and power being free of fee.
Capacity is where the two sources differ, and it is worth knowing both numbers. The mairie describes 26 places, made up of 12 marked spots and 14 open ones. The OSM record gives a capacity of 12. Treat 12 as the number of proper marked bays and expect overflow space beyond that.
The important limit is the season: the mairie states the aire is open March 15 to November 15. Turning up in January is a wasted drive.
Showers are not listed either way, so do not count on one.
Where it sits
Elven is a small town in the eastern Morbihan, about 15 km inland from Vannes, on the edge of the Landes de Lanvaux. The mairie puts it 15 km from the beaches of the Golfe du Morbihan, and the aire is at the eastern entrance to the town.
The local landmark is the Forteresse de Largoet, usually called the Tours d’Elven, a medieval castle with a tall surviving keep in woodland just outside the town. It is the reason Elven appears on a tourist map at all.
Strategically this is the same play as the other inland Morbihan aires. The gulf coast around Vannes and Carnac is crowded and expensive in summer, and free overnight parking near the water is being squeezed. Sleeping 20 minutes inland for nothing, with free electricity, and driving to the coast for the day is a sound way to run a Morbihan week.
The rule that applies
France leaves overnight motorhome parking to the commune. See our France bivouac and overnight parking rules and what an aire actually is. The mairie of Elven sets the rules on this site, and the posted sign at the entrance is the authority, not this page.
Before you rely on this
Check the mairie page linked below, above all for the opening dates and for whether the free electricity has survived. A commune giving away hook-ups is absorbing a real cost, and that is usually the first thing to change.
