What it is like to arrive here.

This is a stopover rather than a destination, and it is worth understanding the difference before you drive to it.

Terre-plein means a levelled open area, and that is the honest description: a hardstanding on the Pays Bigouden coast, in the far west of Finistere, where motorhomes are permitted to park overnight at no charge. The local tourist board lists it, so the night is permitted rather than merely tolerated.

What is actually here

Very little. There are no toilets, no electrical hook-up and no waste disposal point. Drinking water is not listed either way, so fill up before you come and do not build a plan around a tap here.

Plan on arriving self-sufficient and leaving to empty tanks somewhere else. That is normal for a free coastal aire in Brittany and it is the trade you are making for the price.

Where it sits

The Pays Bigouden is the south-western tip of Finistere, past Quimper, and it is properly Atlantic. The coast here is low, rocky and almost treeless, which means the views are wide and the wind is a genuine factor. An exposed seafront hardstanding is a fine place to spend a calm June night and an unpleasant one in a westerly gale. If the forecast is bad, move inland.

Distances in this part of Brittany are short, so a stopover that turns out to be full or unappealing costs you very little. That is the strategy the whole region rewards.

Check the tourist-board listing linked below for current conditions. Municipal aires get closed for works, reallocated in season, or restricted after problems, and a page on the internet is never the authority on a barrier that went up last week.
